Bon visionnage :-) easyJet35

Travel video about destination Bretagne in France. Brittany in the rugged west of France features picturesque old towns, castles and fortresses plus austere mediaeval cathedrals. Nostalgia and romantic harbour villages still exist here and it is also a land of menhirs and fishermen.Rennes is the capital of the region and it is here that our journey through Brittany begins. It is a small town in which both mediaeval and classical buildings stand side by side. In 1720 a disastrous fire that raged for seven days destroyed a number of historic houses. Several crooked, partly renovated frame-work houses are situated in the alleys of the old town, their carved windows and oriels create a medieval atmosphere. Thirty two kilometres south is Vitré, a picture postcard town with a city wall, narrow l...

Rennes is the capital of the region of Brittany and the capital of the former Duchy of Brittany. Already the Romans and Celts settled here. Later Britons emigrated in Armorica, as the North West of Gaul was called. Afterwards, the Frankish Empire, the Vikings, the Normans and later the French king and the British embattled Brittany, until it was finally finally united with France, in 1532 . In the 16th and 17th centuries, Rennes benefited from the overseas trade, cloth production and agriculture. In 1720, a large fire raged in the city and devastated it for the most part. In the 20th century, there were again independence movements, which were partly violent. During WW2, Rennes remained largely spared. In 1994, the old parliamentary buildings partly burned down and were rebuilt in 10-year ...

Travel video about destination Breagne in France. Brittany, the rugged west of France with picturesque old towns, castles and fortresses and the surf of the Atlantic that constantly laps against its rocky coastline. Its ancient name of Armorika meaning “The land of the sea ” underlines the historical significance of the ocean for those who live in this part of the world.English troops besieged Vitré for many years until the lords of the castle finally paid a high ransom for their freedom. The besieging army thus withdrew. The well fortified town subsequently enjoyed much prosperity and has remained in tact right up until the present day. Le Mont Saint-Michel with its historic buildings and eighty metre high granite mound is like something from a fairy tale. Powerful fortifications surround...

I spent the weekend in the lovely city of Rennes. There is a lot to see architecutrally speaking, there is old French and old Bretagne all over the Old City Centre. There is a lively late night dining and tavern scene, plenty of French Street music, And much, much more. It is defiantly worth the effort to leave the Capital city of Paris and venture out in the country. Rennes is a city in the east of Brittany in northwestern France. Rennes is the capital of the region of Brittany, as well as the Ille-et-Vilaine department. The city is the tenth largest in France, with a metropolitan area of about 700,000 inhabitants. With more than 63,000 students in 2013, is also the eighth-largest university campus of France. Rennes is the administrative capital of the French department of Ille-et-Vi...
Take a tour of Rennes Town Hall in Rennes, France -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. A Baroque structure sits in the center of the old town of Rennes, France. Rennes Town Hall, built right after the Great Fire of Rennes in 1720, attests to the city's rich long history. The town hall hosts government services and once held the offices of law and science until the construction of the Palace of Arts. The hall's north wing houses a war memorial and the south wing exhibits a row of rose-colored marble columns. The town hall's signature clock tower conjoins the wing structures which make up the building. A highlight of the city which dates to the first century, Rennes Town Hall offers a glimpse into the city's past.
Travel video about destination Golfe du Marbihan in France. The Golfe Du Morbihan is situated on the south coast of Brittany and protects the region from the strong currents of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a fascinating coastal landscape with huge castles and extensive sand dunes.Influential and wealthy ship owners once settled here. They ran the East India Trading Company that earned high taxes for the French monarchy. The present day harbor makes it difficult to believe that it was once a busy centre of trade with the distant Orient. The town’s well preserved buildings indicate its former wealth and ferryboats travel to the village on the opposite side of the Lorient, which still boasts a splendid array of huge warehouses. The megaliths of Carnac are stone relics that are 1,000 years old and...
